With over $300 million in sales and 6,000 employees, Wend American is the 5th largest Wendy's franchise in the Wendy's system.
WEND American is built on a decentralized model, which means that each geographic market is led by a Director of Operations. Reporting to the DO are Area Directors, who are multi-unit operators, responsible for the overall function of the restaurants in their areas. Reporting to the ADs, are Restaurant General Managers, who are the restaurant leads responsible for the overall running of their unit.
Wendy's History
The beginning of a journey - on November 15, 1969, Dave Thomas opened his very first Wendy's restaurant in Columbus, Ohio at 257 East Broad Street. In no time, the quick-service chain became known for its square beef patties, made from fresh beef, and iconic Frosty® desserts.
Wendy's expanded rapidly, with the chain's 1,000th store opening within a decade of the company's founding.
One of fast food's most famous logos, Wendy's cartoon image of a smiling redheaded girl, was based on the appearance of Thomas's daughter, who also inspired the company's name.Wendy's was the first to introduce the concept of a Super Value Menu and it took off with nine items available for 99¢ every day. The menu offerings rotated based on what customers were craving.
